Hard truths

 Regional view – United Kingdom

Prime Minister Theresa May delivered her latest speech on her plans for Brexit last week, under pressure to put some "flesh on the bones". It was undoubtedly one of her better performances, and in terms of content we are now much more informed about what the government hopes to achieve after the UK leaves the EU. A noticeable change from the PM's previous speeches was a more realistic acceptance of the challenges ahead. There was a recognition that not everyone is going to get what they want from the negotiations – a pointed reference to the more vocal members from both extremes of the Conservative Party.
