Thoughts on the UK equity market

Regional view – United Kingdom

In our house view tactical asset allocation, we recently closed our underweight UK equities versus the Eurozone trade position. Why? Because it was based on the Eurozone's higher earnings growth potential than the UK market's. Now that Eurozone economic growth indicators have been rolling over a little, the potential of both markets this year looks similar at about 8%. The trade returned over 4% and, as our conviction about it had declined, we decided to take profits and close it.
