Following on from changes to S&P indices in September, MSCI has made the same sector changes to reflect GICS reclassification to all of their indices. These changes affect the major benchmarks MSCI World and MSCI Europe. The rebalancing happened at the close of business on 30 November and was reflected in the indices as of 3 December. These changes follow the largest-ever GICS reclassification of sectors. The major change has been to the small Telecommunications sector to form a larger, more diverse Communication Services sector. Stocks moved from the Technology and Consumer Discretionary sectors. The weights of the MSCI sectors pre and post the reclassification are shown in the diagram below
