Among pension funds and other asset owners, the appetite for small cap appears to be on the rise. The past year has seen notably greater interest in small cap equity strategies – either regional or global – from institutional investors that work with bfinance. The underlying motivations for seeking small cap are evolving. While the academic and investment communities have become somewhat sceptical about the so-called “size premium,” allocators are instead looking towards small cap to complement and diversify their existing exposures, seeking stronger risk-adjusted returns over the long-term.
